Dear brother of Raymond A. Merkley (wife Lee). Walter worked as a purchasing agent for GE for 36 years. He was affiliated with East End Purchasing Agency and a member of the Wickliffe Fraternal Order of Eagles. 

Service: Saturday March 28 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church 11900 Chillicothe Rd. Chesterland, OH 44026 where the family will receive guests Saturday from 11-12 p.m. A lunch reception will follow the service.

ROSE M. LABBATO

November 12, 1931 - March 18, 2015

Rose M. Labbato passed away peacefully at the age of 83 at Emeritus in Mentor March 18, 2015 with family at her side. She was born November 12, 1931 and raised in East Cleveland. She attended Collinwood High School and moved to Willowick where she spent the majority of her adult life embracing her homemaker status and participating as a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church. Rose was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Rose loved spending time with her two grandchildren, family, and friends. She loved playing bingo and was a kind and generous soul, famous for her generosity and optimistic outlook. Known as “cruising Rose” to her Arnold Road neighbors, she was always available to lend a ride to those in need. Survivors are her daughter Valerie (George),grandsons Ryan and Kyle, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John, her parents, and brothers John and Tony. 

Private graveside services will be held to celebrate her life, interment at All Souls Cemetery.

 

WALTER A. HINZ

May 30, 1943 - March 16, 2015

Walter A. "Buzz" Hinz, a lifelong resident of Painesville Township, passed away March 16, 2015, at Tri Point. He was born May 30, 1943, in Cleveland. Walter worked at Avery Dennison/Fasson for 25 years in maintenance, was a proud US Navy Veteran, and belonged to American Legion Post #336. Walter was loved by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors are his children, Mark (Dawn), Rich (Karyn), Nora, Jean O'Neil (Courtney) and Matt; grandchildren, Jason, Racheal, Noah, Anna, Adam, Russell, William, Kelsey and Wesley; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Carl (Peggy) and Judy Alban; and mother of his children, Carolyn Gillette. He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Bernadette (nee Markert) Hinz; sister and brother-in-law, Diane Weber (Joe). 

Celebration of Life will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday March 21, 2015, at American Legion, Post #336, 60 Chester Street, Painesville, OH 44077.

EILEEN M. ROMIG

March 28, 1924 - March 12, 2015

Eileen M. Romig (nee Collins) age 90, died on March 12, 2015, following a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Eileen was born on March 28, 1924 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to Harry & Jean Collins. The family moved to Ohio when she was a child, and she lived the remainder of her life in the Lake County area. She graduated from Mentor High School in 1942, and married Fred T. Romig (Fritz) on September 19, 1947. Eileen joined Mentor Christian Church as a teenager, and remained active up to her last years, participating in all aspects of the Christian Women's Fellowship, she also sang in the choir and would always help in the kitchen for any meal. She was employed for many years as a housekeeper in private homes, her greatest love was caring for her own family and home. Eileen enjoyed crochet, singing, home decorating, camping, and cooking; she was often described as "The Best Cook in the World". She volunteered for many years with the Red Cross, helping with the bloodmobile, as well as donating many gallons of blood. Eileen was proud of her Canadian beginnings, but equally proud to be an American Citizen; Naturalized on April 14, 1971. Survivors include Daughters; Linda Scott (Dave), and Beth Romig, and Son; Tim Romig (Marla). She was a loving Gramma to Grandchildren; Amy Romig, Cynthia Romig (Marcus Jackson), Grace Romig, and Jenna Romig and Great-grandsons; Travis Stoneman, and Terrell Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Romig, son; Ron Romig, and siblings; Maggie Collins Helmick and Jim Collins. 

Pastor Cheryl Delaney will officiate at a Memorial Service on Sunday March 22, 2015 at 2PM at Mentor Christian Church. Immediately following the service, an Ice Cream social and visitation for friends and family will be in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
