Dearly beloved husband of Linda (nee Piero); Dearest father of Lorraine Mangelo, Cheryl Courtnier, Steven Sherman (wife Dawn), Sandra Cox (husband Dennis), Michelle Hall (husband Jim), Vicki Jacob (husband John), Michael Sherman, Angela Lundi; Dear step-father of Matthew Lanese (wife Rachel), Toni Atchley (husband Jeffrey), Traci Paponetti (husband Joseph); Dearest grandfather of 21; great-grandfather of 12. Dear brother of Raymond A. Merkley (wife Lee). Walter worked as a purchasing agent for GE for 36 years. He was affiliated with East End Purchasing Agency and a member of the Wickliffe Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Service: Saturday March 28 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church 11900 Chillicothe Rd. Chesterland, OH 44026 where the family will receive guests Saturday from 11-12 p.m. A lunch reception will follow the service.
