Alfred Phillips “ Big Al”

December 22, 1938 - July 23, 2020

Alfred Phillips “Big Al” passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Loving husband of Marilyn (nee Nadratowski); cherished father of Christine Peskar (John), Donna Phillips (deceased), and Alfred S. Phillips (Tammy); loving grandfather of Victoria Peskar, Mikaela Phillips, and Paige Phillips; dearest brother of Catherine McMahon (Rudder); dear uncle and great uncle. Alfred was a 20-year member of the Blue Knight Law Enforcement Motorcycle Group and the original owner of A& S Cycle. 

The family will receive friends at Vito-Nero Funeral Home 6130 Turney Rd. Garfield Hts., OH (two blocks south of Rockside) on Sunday July 26, 2020 from 2-5 p.m.

Helen Lawer

January 14, 1935 - June 24, 2020

Helen Gloria Lawer, age 85, formerly of Garfield Heights, Ohio, died on June 24, 2020 at the Oaks of Brecksville.  Helen was born on January 14, 1935 in Snow Shoe, PA, the daughter of Steve and Mary Blazosky Kirko. On June 1, 1956, she married Merslaw “Bud” Lawer. Helen was a member of St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church in Brecksville. She enjoyed volunteering at Garfield High School Booster Club bingo and at Marymount Hospital. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Bud, in 2015; sister, Gloria Patishnock; brothers, Steve Kirko and David Kirko. Helen is survived by her brother, Edward Kirko, of Old Saybrook, CT; daughter, Cynthia (James) Marn of Pickerington, OH; sons, Thomas Lawer of Broadview Heights and Brian Lawer of Garfield Heights; grandchildren, Melanie (Andrew) House, Riley (Mallory) Marn, Brock Lawer, and Jeffrey Lawer; and great-grandchildren,  Archer House, Georgia Marn and Crosby Marn. 

Services: Monday, June 29, 2020 prayers at 10:45 a.m. Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church 8111 Brecksville Rd. Brecksville, OH 44141 (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). The family will receive friends at Vito-Nero Funeral Home 6130 Turney Rd. (two blocks south of Rockside) on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. Parastas will be at 5:00p.m.

John J. Ferko Jr. age 60. Beloved son of John and Josephine Ferko (both deceased); dearest father of John Michael (Sarah), David Joseph (Jessica), and Kevin Christopher (Priscilla); loving grandfather of Amelia, Johnny Jr., Jackson, Mackenzie, David Jr., Alana, Adrianna, Remy, and Elijah; dearest brother of Deborah Jack (Charles) and James (Kathy); dear uncle of many. Private services will be held. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later time.

Richard Stephen Pratt Jr. “Ricky” age 28. Beloved son of Richard Sr. and Rosemary (nee Marotta); cherished brother of Stephen (Jaclyn); grandson of Richard (deceased), Olga (nee Angeloff), and Nancy Milota (nee Marotta) (Ted); nephew and cousin to many. Best friend of Harvey. Loved by all who knew him.

Carrie Lyn Schoeffler

December 31, 1973 - May 4, 2020

Carrie Lyn Schoeffler (nee Typpo) age 46 of Parma, passed away on May 4, 2020. Beloved wife of Scott; loving mother of Talya Oxana Marea; dearest daughter of David and Gayle (nee Shinkaruk); dear sister of Matt (Laura) and Paul (Kathy); dear aunt of 12. Carrie graduated from The University of Toledo with a degree in Pharmacy. She worked for Discount Drug Mart, Target, and Southwest Community Pharmacy.  She had a very caring heart for her patients and truly enjoyed her career.  Carrie will truly be missed by all her family and friends. 

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Albert the Great in North Royalton at a later time. The date and time will be announced on www.vitonero.com
