Frances C. Alexander (nee Parasiliti); passed into heavenly peace early on February 1st.

Beloved wife of Leo (deceased); Dearest mother of Mark (Kathy), and Jeff (Shari); Loving grandmother of Mark, Brad, Aimee (Ben), Joe (Hilary), Heather, and Melanie; Great grandmother of Alexandra, Christopher, Nathan, Noah, and Caitlyn; beloved sister of Sam Parasiliti, Mary Hoch, Rose Withrow and the following deceased: Sebastian, Carmelo, Tony, Louis, Robert, Martin, and Ignazio. Frances was the matriarch of her large family. She was a second mother to a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Mark and Jeff especially want to thank their aunts Mary and Rose and their families who lovingly cared for their mother during the last decade of her life.

Services: Saturday February 6 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica Church. The family will receive friends at Vito-Nero Funeral Home 6130 Turney Road Garfield Hts. (two blocks south of Rockside) on Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m

Kenneth was a member of the Brecksville Masonic Lodge. Services Thursday February 4 at 12:00 p.m. at Vito-Nero Funeral Home 6130 Turney Road (Two Blocks South of Rockside) where the family will receive friends on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Although flowers are appreciated donations can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital through www.vitonero.com.




RUTH ANN MAY

April 2, 1937 - January 28, 2016

Ruth Ann May, age 78, of Eastlake, passed away Jan. 28, 2016, at Wickliffe Country Place.  She was born April 2, 1937, in Williamson, W.Va.  She was a seamstress for Safety First Clothing and Equipment for 15 years and a care coordinator at Heartland of Mentor.  She is survived by her son, Mike (Terry); sister, BettyJo Rose (Herb Jr.); special cousin of Jim Grimmett (Karen) of Ft. Myers, Florida.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jr.; parents, Clarence Collins and Opal Maynard; and brother, Clarence Jr. (Bud).  Services are Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Vito-Nero Funeral Home, 6130 Turney Road, Garfield Heights (2 Blocks South of Rockside). Family will receive friends from 6 until time of service.

MARION T. LAMANNA "MARIA LANE"

March 19, 1938 - January 21, 2016

Marion T. LaManna “Maria Lane” (nee Gallina)

Beloved wife of Robert P. LaManna (deceased); Dearest mother of Robert Samuel LaManna (deceased); Dear daughter of Mario and Bessie Gallina (both deceased); Maria enjoyed her life working as a performer and a Burlesque dancer. She was a featured attraction through out the United States. Her last job was at Jack and Jill’s. She loved to host parties, and entertain her friends and family. She loved cooking Italian foods. Maria would always help people in need. She will be truly missed.

Service: Thursday January 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Vito-Nero Funeral Home (two blocks South of Rockside). Family and friends will gather from 1-2 p.m. A memorial luncheon will follow.   

MICHAEL KARDAMIS

July 10, 1976 - January 19, 2016

Dearly beloved son of Carol Box (Joe Sr.), Thomas (Eileen Belleli); Dearest brother of Kimberly; Dear uncle of Benjamin; Dearest nephew of Martin, Deborah, Jeffrey, Joanne Clayton (Cliff), Lena Klimczak (Robert, deceased), Michael Jr. (Tina, deceased), Roseanne Contento (Mark); Great nephew and cousin to many. Michael John lived his life as he wished. He had a passion for cooking and amazed all with his talent. He loved dancing and singing to Grateful Dead and enjoyed many years living the beach life in Florida. Michael had a caring and loving soul. He had a soft spot for all animals (especially squirrels). Michael had a beautiful personality, sense of humor and nobody who ever met him will ever forget him.

Services: Saturday January 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 11:00 am at St. Monica Church 13623 Rockside Rd. Garfield Hts. The family will receive friends at Vito Nero Funeral Home 6130 Turney Road (Two Blocks South of Rockside) on Friday from 4-8 p.m.

Update: Thanks to the overwhelming support the family received, a donation was made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Michael's name.  Michael's tribute will be memorialized on a brick leading up to the Kay Research and Care Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

MARY PARRAN

JULY 12, 1927 - JANUARY 11, 2016

Mary Brekke Parran, age 88, born Mary Jane Brekke in Warren MN., to Edward A. Brekke and Katherine Edith Sinclair, died January 11, 2016 at her home in Breckenridge Village, Willoughby, Ohio. She was surrounded by her devoted family; her husband of 63 years, Theodore V. Parran; children Edith Parran Kuhn, (James W Kuhn), Theodore V. Parran, Jr., (Laura Bastulli), Sarah Parran, (Susan Gregg), and Michael B. Parran. Mary was blessed with six grandchildren; Sarah E. Ridenour (Cory), Bethany P. Kloss (Sean), Allison G. Kuhn (affianced to Dennis McAnerney), Theodore V. Parran III (Adriana Benavides), Krista K. Parran, and Thomas A. Parran. Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brekke and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John and Charles, and his wife Mary Jean Brekke.

Mary’s formative years were spent in Argyle, MN. She then attended the University of Minnesota, received her nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University. After marriage and 4 children, Mary completed her graduate education at Ursuline College and Western Reserve University, with a master’s degree in education. She loved every minute of her various careers, first as a public health nurse with the VNA, then as a high school counselor, teacher, family therapist and addiction counselor.

Mary’s life was dedicated to service to others, commitment to liberal causes, and to her family and friends around the country and world. She had the remarkable ability to create a special bond with every person she met. Her love, enthusiasm, and compassion will continue to enrich the lives of all who knew her.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, February 6th, 2016, at 2:00 P.M., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2747 Fairmount Blvd., Cleveland Heights, Ohio, 44106. A reception will be held in Tucker Hall at St. Paul’s immediately following the service.

DR. HILARY CATHERINE WALTON

August 31, 1969 - December 25, 2015

 

Dr. Hilary Catherine Walton, 46, of Lyndhurst, OH, beloved daughter of Julie H. Walton of Ellicott City, MD, died at home on December 25, 2015.  Born in Asheville, NC, Hilary spent much of her childhood in the North of England, where her father, Brian George Walton (deceased), was from.  She received a PhD in Biology from Ohio State University in 2005, worked in academic publishing and science writing in NYC, and taught biology at Case Western Reserve University from 2009-2013.  Hilary will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City, MD, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 13 with visitation prior, beginning at 1:00 pm, and a reception following.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the HC Walton Foundation, a foundation being established in her name to combat bullying.

JOANNE WATSON "BROM"

APRIL 20, 1939 - NOVEMBER 19, 2015

Joanne Watson “Brom” of Willoughby passed away November 19, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Dearly beloved mother of Kristin Guyett and Sara Thomlison; Loving grandmother of Samuel and Emma; Dearest daughter of John and Rose (both deceased); dear sister of John II “Jack” (deceased). Joanne was a nurse at Lake West Hospital, she retired in 2010. Services were private.

JOHN R. WINTERS JR. "JACK"

May 20, 1935 - November 19, 2015

John R. Winters Jr. “Jack” 80, passed away November 19 at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Winters, a Maryland native, resided in Eastlake for the last 53 years. He was a plumber for Huron Road Hospital for 40 years and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. John enjoyed fishing, bowling, and rooting on his favorite Cleveland Sports teams: the Indians and the Browns.  He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Rebecca (Rennie), daughter Jamie DeMark (Hoyet) of Mentor, son Joseph of Willoughby, brother Marshall (Paula), Sisters Carol Grove (Robert), Hilda (Raymond) Michalski, grandchildren Alyssa, Madelyn, and Avery DeMark and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John R. Sr. and Veronica (Woods), and brother Eugene.  

Services were Private.
