ROBERT E. EBERSOLE JR. "MAX BANGWELL"

September 4, 1952 - October 27, 2015

Robert E. Ebersole Jr. Dearly beloved father of Bob III (Shelly), Eddie, Andrew (Jessica); Loving grandfather of 8; Great-grandfather of 5; Dear brother of Barb Jedlicka (Joe); He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Bob passed on after a hard battle with cancer. He began his music career here, in the late 60's, early 70's working with Raspberry Ash. He loved music and decided early on that it was his calling. This list of bands that he played with during the 80's is not inclusive nor extensive but include: Robert Lockwood Jr., The Schwartz Brothers, No Motel, Nebula, Blue Steve Martin, Danny Lawson, Roger Martin, Daggs Brothers, Al Leatherwood and Buzzy Linhart. He filled-in / subbed with so many others, I can't remember them all. On the side, he found time to write and perform with the improve group "Accordion Repair" and that was just in Cleveland. In Los Angeles, he continued playing and recording with Luke & the Locomotives, 2000 lbs of Blues, started "The Max Bangwell Band," worked with Jimmy Ripp (who produced tracks for Kid Creole, George Harrison and Mic Jagger), got to play with Mic Jagger, worked on a radio show with Doctor Demento, and toured with White Boy James and Weird Al Yankovic in Europe. Max Bangwell was no stranger to networking. Have you heard of "7 degrees of Kevin Bacon" ? Well, if you knew Max you were only 1-step away from knowing some of the great legends: James Cotton, BB King, Willie Dixon, Junior Wells, Phil Chess and Sam Phillips which he met while performing in LA. A great-grandfather at age 63, he had a short but full life. He would always say to me (and everyone else), "it was like I joined the circus." (9/4/52 - 10/27/15)

A Memorial for Max is being planned for Sunday, November 8th (3pm-7pm) at the Yorktown Bowling Lanes 6218 Pearl Rd. Parma Hts., OH 44130(No, it's not "Bowling for Bangwell"). Bob wanted a party, not a mourning. Musicians are welcome/encouraged to come. There will be drums (Max's),a PA and some amps for guitar/bass (BYOI).
