Deborah Y. Smith

Deborah Yvonne Smith (nee Miller) was born on March 11, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio. Deborah met her high school sweetheart Raymond E. Smith Sr. in 1972. They married on January 27, 1980 and were later blessed with three children.  She started her career at Ford Motor Company in 1994 at the Walton Hills Stamping Plant, and later transferred to the Lima Engine Plant where she excelled and accomplished many goals. Deborah participated in many work and community activities. She was on the Women's committee, and the Diversity and Inclusion committee, where she taught classes to new hires. Deborah was also on the executive board and was the current Vice President of Union Local 1219 (2nd term).  She loved her family deeply and looked forward to their gatherings and vacations.  Her kindness, compassion, and support are what made it so easy to gravitate towards her, and her positive energy was highly contagious. She leaves behind her beloved husband Raymond Sr.; children Chanel, Raymond Jr., and Richard; grandchildren Imani, Na'Talya, Zuri, and a whole host of family and friends. Deborah is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lucy (nee McDaniel) Miller and her siblings Angela “Angie” Jennings (Jeffrey) and Edward “Dusty” Gordon (Pat).

 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Vito-Nero Funeral Home 6130 Turney Road Garfield Hts., OH 44125 (2 blocks south of Rockside). Concluding prayer will begin at 1:45 p.m.

Ronald Francis Smith Sr.

January 10, 1939 - October 16, 2022

Ronald F. Smith, Sr. age 83. Passed away on October 16, 2022, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Siedlecki). Devoted father of Michael (deceased), Ronald F. Jr. (Lisa), David (Kristi), and Cheryl. Loving grandfather of Erika (DJ), Cameron, Delaney, Addison, and Ellie. Loving great-grandfather of Bradley and Josie. Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 5106 of Maple Heights, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Council # 2122 of Bedford, and VFW post #6768. He was also a lifelong Browns fan and avid bowler. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 22, 2022, 10:00A.M. at St. Monica Church 13623 Rockside Rd. Garfield Hts., OH 44125. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH)

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Cuyahoga Heights.

September 16, 1951 - January 14, 2020

Sheila was born in Brantford, Ontario Canada Sept. 16, 1951.  She entered into eternal rest January 14, 2020, Cleveland, Ohio.  She was surrounded by family as the angels greeted her.  Beloved mother to Christa, Michelle, and Melissa (John).  Grandmother to Olivia.  She adored her grandpups: Morris, Charlie, Sugar, and Coco.  Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Smith and her brother Gary (Carol) and her beloved dog Solomon.  Sister to Patricia (Jim), Ted, Wayne (Cathy), Bernard (Donna), Barb, Gail (John), Neil (Kim), and Tim. Aunt to a host of nieces and nephews that she adored.  Sheila began her journey in life in Brantford, Ontario Canada.  She was a proud Bass member of the St. John’s Drum and Bugle Corps.  She obtained her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Hamilton, Ontario.  In 1974, Sheila ventured to leave Brantford for the United States heading to Cleveland, Ohio and began working at the Cleveland Clinic.  She was particularly proud of her work at the Cleveland Clinic where she worked for 24 years.  Sheila was a practicing Roman Catholic.  Christ the King Church was a second home for Sheila and her girls.  She was called to help the many people in her community.  She especially enjoyed her volunteer work at the monthly soup kitchens, organized summer basketball leagues, and encouraging former CKS Alumni to come back to serve.    Sheila loved her family and friends.  If you knew Sheila you knew that Halloween was her favorite time of the year.  She enjoyed dressing in costume and providing cheer to many children.  Sheila made sure to enjoy her life living it to the fullest the last five years.  She became a cruise aficionado.  She particularly enjoyed the sites of Alaska and her native country of Canada.  If you ever have the chance enjoy a bowl of Strawberry Bisque (her favorite on many cruises).  Sheila was proud of her many accomplishments but most importantly the success and well-being of her three girls: Christa, Michelle, and Melissa.  Sheila would want you to live your life to the fullest.  Smile at all the big and small things in life.  Stick those two fingers up behind someone for a good picture.  Lastly, love your family with all your heart.  She did! 

Services:  Monday, January 20, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church 14600 Turney Rd. Cleveland, OH 44137. The family will receive friends at Vito-Nero Funeral Home 6130 Turney Rd. Garfield Hts, OH 44125 (2 Blocks South of Rockside) on Sunday from 4-6 p.m.

Gloria Jean Karich

June 18, 1941 - July 13, 2019

Gloria Jean Karich (nee Smith), age 78, of Brooklyn Heights, OH, went to the Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2019 surrounded by her family and best friend.  She is survived by her husband, John Karich; daughters Denise Bamber (Bill), Colleen Simon (Jerry West); step-daughter Holly Ponomarenko; grandchildren Ryan Allen, Kristen Bamber (Mike McTighe), Samantha and Alexandra Ponomarenko; great grandchildren Ella, Cason and Brogan McTighe; brothers Dennis Smith (Lovie), Raymond Smith (deceased); lifelong friend, Barb Bugara.  Everyone who knew Gloria will miss her kindness, sense of humor and strength.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 4940 Broadview Rd., Cleveland, OH.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 6111 Oak Tree Blvd., Suite 130, Independence, OH 44131 or Heartland Hospice Services, 4807 Rockside Rd., Suite 110, Independence, OH  44131.

 

Betty Smith

Betty Smith of Garfield Hts. Beloved wife of William “Smitty” (deceased); mother of Greg, Kathi (George), and Connie Herczak (Jim); grandmother of Jennifer, Grant, Alexis, Nicole and Matthew; Preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Dorothy Bevan, Elmer Bittner, Anna Elkins, Eleanor Close, Howard Bittner, and Marshall Bittner; aunt and great aunt of many.
