Eugene R. Miller

Eugene R. Miller, age 72, loving husband, step-father, and grandfather passed away on May 11, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Gene was born May 27, 1951, in Alliance, Ohio, and graduated from Marlington High School with honors.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Akron and became a computer analyst at First Energy.  His favorite pastime was playing the trumpet or “horn” as he called it. He had many long-time friends he met as band members.  Gene’s greatest accomplishment was the example he set for a loving, faithful marriage and as a kind and compassionate stepfather.  He was loved, honored, and respected by his family and friends.

Kids and grandchildren were what made him happy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Dorothy Miller of Alliance and his brother Jim Miller of Phoenix, Arizona. He is survided by his devoted wife and best friend, Sandy, daughter and son-in-law, Deanna (Haas) and Brent Turns of Parma, son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Carla (Hoisington) Haas of Hudson, and five loving grandchildren, Grace, Sarah, and Matthew Kress,  Ryan Slama and Brooklynn Haas.

Gene’s kindness and dedication to family and work will remain an inspiration to all.  A special thank you to the physicians, nurses, pharmacists and staff at the Seidman Cancer Center at SJMC for the superior care given to him over the past seven years.  His guidance, laughter and generosity will forever be ingrained in the memories of those who loved and knew him.
