Clarence William Lohrey, lost his three year battle to cancer on Wednesday August 19, 2015. He passed peacefully in his home. Clancy was born in Willoughby on December 23, 1938. He was a resident of Mentor all of his life. He graduated from Mentor High School in 1956 and Baldwin Wallace College in 1962. Clancy was very involved in sports; he played football for the late Lee Tressel both in high school and college. At BW, he was an active member of the Letterman’s Club and Alpha Tao Omega Fraternity. From 1962-1964 he served in the United States Army. On June 5, 1965 he married Patricia Ann Pietila. Recently they celebrated their 50th Anniversary with family and friends. Clarence William Lohrey is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his two sons Scott and Greg, daughter in laws Cheri and Jodi, as well as, six grandchildren, Alex, Aryn, Kate, Braden, Jane and Adam. Clancy also leaves behind his sister, Irma Krause and brother in laws, Boyd Walker, Dennis and Donald Pietila. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Helen Lohrey and Sister Edna Walker. Clancy earned his 50 year pin of service from the Local Pile Drivers Millwrights Union. He was one of the original members and treasurer of the Red Line Club. He was also involved in the Mentor Booster Club, Knights of Pythians and Mentor Bantam Football. Many nights you would surely find him in the Press Box at the Mentor High School Football games. He was also a member of the Mentor United Methodist Church, The Cloverdale Fishing Club, and the Hungarian Culture Club. Clancy enjoyed gardening, NASCAR racing, being “Mr. Fix it” to friends and family, as well as, watching his grandchildren’s sports events.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mentor United Methodist Church 8600 Mentor Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Mentor United Methodist Church.
